It’s about time I did one of these.
Although it’s nice to have a place to write about whatever comes to mind, I’m the sort of person who needs to have focus if I am to get something done. If I were to use this space to write about everything that is happening in my life, one would think I’d update more often than I’ve done. It certainly isn’t the case that there’s nothing to write about, it’s just that “everything” is too vague; I can’t focus with that as a keyword. So here’s what ‘m thinking; I’ll use this page to write about my thoughts on and about reality. To me, reality is an ever fluctuating and abstract concept; sure, the word reality is usually used to describe actuality and the physical reality, that which cannot be altered. However, even if you’re just a tiny bit spiritual, I’m sure you will have noticed that physical reality isn’t much different from fiction. The world that we are physically part of is just as influenced by our minds as any fictitious world we might conjure up in our heads. My theory is that reality and fiction are, simultaneously, separable and inseparable. What we think of can — and will — come true if we focus hard enough.
Some like to call this dreaming. After all, it can be really hard to alter your life in such a big way that you feel that you are in actual control of your reality and not a slave of it. That ’s usually because when we think of shaping reality we think about moving mountains, metaphorically speaking. We think that small changes are not proof of our ability to alter our surroundings, and we think that if we were really in total control, we should be able to make changes that are so big that they alter the very scenery around us. Like moving a mountain. It’s not that it’s impossible to move mountains, it’s just that it’s really really hard to override all the rules of the visual and physical universe. Think of it: What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a mountain? I’ll bet it’s something along the lines of “big”, “huge” or “massive”. And yourself compared to that mountain? Not that big, I wager. What does gravity tell us about something tiny and lightweight affecting something that is big and heavy? It won’t make it move much, that’s for sure.
And therein lies one of the limitations we put on ourselves; we separate our imagination from our mind, and our mind from our body. I believe they’re all the same, that they all exist as part of the physical universe and, this is the important part, they’re all connected. It’s the same whether you believe in the laws of physics or in a creator deity. It’s important to realize that all the rules that we know of concerning physical reality were initially theories, and theories hail from imagination. People have believed the earth to be flat, and no matter how silly that might seem today, it was believed to be flat because people figured they had proof of it and wanted to believe that. Or maybe it really was flat up until we figured it should be spherical. Regardless, the fact is that we let our lives be controlled by theoretical laws that really never can be proven to actually be absolute. A few thousand years into the future we might figure out we’re really just the construct of imagination ourselves; that we exist in the head of a sentient being. It’s not as far fetched if you compare it to what people believe in today.

So there you have it, a taste of what I want to write about on these pages. I won’t limit myself too much in terms of what I consider relevant to this theme, but I will focus on cogitations that deal with the fundamental building blocks of our reality. I might write about technology, games and movies; anything that is of relevance to the structure of our world. It is still more focused than “everything”. I figure it’s a good idea to put the roads I walk in my mind into words; if somebody finds these travels interesting, then that’s a nice bonus.
